The short answer

Pick Krisp if noisy rooms, distracting voices, or strong accents get in the way of calls and you also want unlimited notes. Its virtual microphone and speaker work with almost any calling app, usually without a bot, and its Core plan bundles noise cancellation, recording, transcription, summaries, integrations, and mobile capture.

Pick Work Coach if audio quality is already acceptable and the skill you want to improve is your own communication. It adds role-aware feedback, delivery review, filler playback, and practice instead of noise removal or accent conversion.

They can run together cleanly: Krisp improves the audio path while Work Coach performs the private debrief.

What Krisp does

Krisp began as real-time noise cancellation and has grown into a broad AI Meeting Assistant. On desktop, you select Krisp Microphone and Krisp Speaker inside the calling app. It can remove background noise and nearby voices, convert accents in real time, record audio or video, transcribe in 16 languages, generate notes and action items, and answer questions through AI Chat.

Local bot-free capture works with any app that uses the Krisp audio devices. Krisp also offers an optional visible bot for Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams, useful when the user cannot attend or wants video capture. Mobile apps handle in-person meetings. Core includes integrations with Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Zapier, webhooks, and an MCP connection.

The useful distinction is processing. Noise cancellation itself runs on the device. Meeting recordings, transcripts, and notes can be stored in Krisp's cloud when those features are enabled.

What Work Coach does

Work Coach is a desktop app for Mac and Windows that records microphone and system audio locally. Nothing joins the call, and recording starts only after you choose it. The meeting can be in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Slack, or any other app that plays audio through the computer.

You get a timestamped transcript, an editable summary, and action items. The main product begins after those basics:

There is no employer dashboard, team workspace, or admin account. The person being coached owns the account and keeps the history when they change jobs.

How recording works

Krisp's virtual audio path is flexible. When both Krisp Microphone and Speaker are selected, it hears you and everyone else without joining the meeting. It works in Zoom, Meet, Teams, Webex, Slack, Discord, and other calling tools. If only the microphone is selected, the transcript contains only your side.

The optional Krisp Bot is a separate mode. It appears as a participant in Zoom, Meet, or Teams and can record video. Switching to it in the middle of a meeting discards the earlier local recording, so choose the capture path before the call. Work Coach has one mode only: deliberate local capture with no bot.

What happens after the meeting

Krisp gives you a searchable transcript, summary, action items, synchronized playback, AI Chat, sharing, uploads, and integrations. The call itself can sound materially better because noise and background voices are filtered before participants hear them. Accent Conversion can also change how speech is heard in real time.

Work Coach does not change the live call. It waits until afterward and studies the choices you made. If a difficult answer lacked structure or your voice tightened during pushback, the feedback points to that moment and gives you a rep to run before the next call.

Privacy and who owns the output

Krisp encrypts audio and meeting data in transit and at rest. Its noise cancellation is processed locally. For Note Taker and Recording, audio, video, transcripts, and notes may be stored on Krisp's servers. In Transcribe Only mode, some languages can be processed on device while others are sent to the server and deleted after transcription. Stored meeting data remains until you delete it or request deletion. Krisp describes this in its Meeting Assistant FAQ.

Krisp is GDPR compliant and supports team management. That team layer is useful for deployment, but it means administrators and sharing controls can exist around the meeting library.

Work Coach keeps the product boundary simple. Meeting audio remains on your computer and is deleted automatically after 30 days. No audio file is stored in the cloud. Transcripts and coaching live in your private account, are never visible to your employer, and are never used to train shared models. There is no company administrator who can turn that promise into a workspace setting later.

Pricing

Krisp offers a seven-day trial with unlimited transcription, noise cancellation, recording, notes, and action items. Core costs $8 per user per month billed annually or $16 monthly, with unlimited note-taking and noise cancellation, 10 GB storage, mobile apps, integrations, and one hour per day of speaker-side accent conversion. Advanced is $15 annually or $30 monthly, raising storage to 60 GB and adding controls. The live matrix is on Krisp's pricing page.

Work Coach costs $50 a month after a two-week free trial with no credit card. Plans at $250 and $500 add human review or a live monthly coaching session. That is expensive beside a basic notetaker and inexpensive beside a traditional executive coach, which commonly costs around $5,000 a month. The purchase only makes sense if feedback and practice are the reason you record.

Can you use both together?

Yes, and this is one of the cleanest pairings. Use Krisp as the microphone and speaker in the meeting app so everyone hears cleaner audio. Work Coach can capture the resulting system and microphone streams for private coaching. Test the audio routing once before an important call.

Which one should you pick?

Pick Krisp if you...

  • Need serious noise or background voice cancellation
  • Want accent conversion during live calls
  • Need unlimited notes, recordings, and integrations at a low price
  • Record in-person meetings on mobile

Pick Work Coach if you...

  • Want the product to evaluate how you handled the meeting
  • Need private evidence and practice, not manager oversight
  • Want audio files kept off the cloud
  • Care about role-specific feedback more than live audio processing
