Tactiq turns meeting captions into a live transcript without recording audio. Work Coach records locally so it can coach what you said and how you said it.

The short answer

Pick Tactiq if you live in browser-based Google Meet, Zoom, or Teams and want an inexpensive live transcript with no bot and no stored audio. It is quick to install, the free tier covers ten meetings a month, and paid plans add unlimited transcripts and team workflows.

Pick Work Coach if the audio matters. Work Coach can replay evidence, analyze voice delivery, count fillers against the recording, and generate practice. It also works with native desktop meeting apps rather than depending on browser captions.

Tactiq is lighter and cheaper. Work Coach has a much deeper purpose.

What Tactiq does

Tactiq is a Chrome and Edge extension that reads the live captions produced by Google Meet, Zoom in a browser, and Microsoft Teams on the web. It builds a speaker-labeled transcript in real time, then can generate summaries, action items, custom prompts, workflows, screenshots, and exports. No bot joins and Tactiq says it does not record or store meeting audio.

That design has real advantages. The transcript is ready immediately, there is no cloud audio file, and a user can highlight moments while the meeting is happening. It also has boundaries: Zoom desktop is not supported, Teams works through the browser or PWA, and transcript quality depends partly on the conferencing platform's captions.

Team and Business tiers add auto-sharing, centralized administration, retention controls, SAML SSO, and AI meeting agents. Tactiq is moving beyond a personal extension, but live caption capture remains the center of the product.

What Work Coach does

Work Coach is a desktop app for Mac and Windows that records microphone and system audio locally. Nothing joins the call, and recording starts only after you choose it. The meeting can be in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Slack, or any other app that plays audio through the computer.

You get a timestamped transcript, an editable summary, and action items. The main product begins after those basics:

There is no employer dashboard, team workspace, or admin account. The person being coached owns the account and keeps the history when they change jobs.

How recording works

Tactiq does not make an audio recording. In Google Meet you enable captions, and the extension reads them. Zoom must run in the browser with automated captions allowed by the host. Microsoft Teams must run in a supported browser or installed PWA. The transcript is shown only to the Tactiq user, though Tactiq provides an optional participant notification.

This makes Tactiq discreet and storage-efficient, but it cannot recover a missed word from audio or evaluate delivery. It also cannot capture a native Zoom desktop call today. Work Coach uses operating-system audio instead of captions, so the native app, a browser, or an uncommon meeting client all look the same to it.

What happens after the meeting

Tactiq turns the text into summaries, action items, follow-up drafts, reusable prompts, and workflows. Transcripts can be edited, tagged, searched, shared, exported, or sent to other tools. In-meeting AI can answer questions while the call is still underway.

Work Coach can do less with team distribution and more with evidence. Because it has your audio, it can let you hear the hesitant opening, compare pace and projection across a key clip, and ground a role-specific coaching point in what actually happened. Tactiq preserves words. Work Coach uses words and voice to train behavior.

Privacy and who owns the output

Tactiq holds SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications and follows GDPR requirements. It stores transcripts in Google Cloud, not meeting audio. For AI generation it uses Azure OpenAI with content logging disabled; Tactiq says the provider neither retains the submitted content nor uses it for model training. Archived meetings delete automatically after 30 days unless purged sooner. See the Tactiq Privacy Center.

On Team and Business plans, transcripts can auto-share and admins gain controls. Individuals should check which workspace they are in before assuming a transcript is personal.

Work Coach keeps the product boundary simple. Meeting audio remains on your computer and is deleted automatically after 30 days. No audio file is stored in the cloud. Transcripts and coaching live in your private account, are never visible to your employer, and are never used to train shared models. There is no company administrator who can turn that promise into a workspace setting later.

Pricing

Tactiq Free provides 10 full transcripts and 5 AI credits each month. Pro costs $8 per month billed annually or $12 monthly, with unlimited transcripts but only 10 AI credits. Team costs $16.67 annually or $20 monthly and removes the AI credit cap while adding team sharing and support. Business is $29.17 annually or $40 monthly, adding retention, SAML SSO, and business controls. The details are on Tactiq's pricing page.

Work Coach costs $50 a month after a two-week free trial with no credit card. Plans at $250 and $500 add human review or a live monthly coaching session. That is expensive beside a basic notetaker and inexpensive beside a traditional executive coach, which commonly costs around $5,000 a month. The purchase only makes sense if feedback and practice are the reason you record.

Can you use both together?

Yes. Tactiq can display a live text record while Work Coach captures audio for the private review. Running both is useful if you want searchable text during the call and coaching after it. Make sure the meeting is in a Tactiq-supported browser path.

Which one should you pick?

Pick Tactiq if you...

  • Want a live transcript during browser meetings
  • Prefer that the tool never store audio
  • Need an inexpensive free or $8 plan
  • Use AI prompts and workflows on meeting text

Pick Work Coach if you...

  • Need support for native desktop meeting apps
  • Want to replay evidence and hear how you sounded
  • Want coaching and practice rather than note automation
  • Need a private record that is never auto-shared to a team
