The short answer

Pick Bluedot if you want a bot-free notetaker across browser, desktop, mobile, and Apple Watch, with transcripts in more than 100 languages, video on higher plans, workspace search, CRM or ATS sync, and an MCP connection to AI tools.

Pick Work Coach if the key output is private improvement. It analyzes your own communication, plays evidence back, reviews delivery, and creates practice without putting the results in a team workspace.

Bluedot has broader capture and automation. Work Coach has the coaching layer Bluedot does not try to provide.

What Bluedot does

Bluedot is a privacy-focused AI notetaker that records without adding a meeting participant. A Chrome extension, desktop app, iOS and Android apps, and Apple Watch app cover Zoom, Meet, Teams, Slack huddles, phone calls, and in-person conversations. It transcribes and summarizes in more than 100 languages.

After the call, Bluedot provides speaker-labeled transcripts, customizable notes, comments, clips, workspace-wide AI chat, search, and sharing. Integrations send structured fields to Salesforce, HubSpot, applicant-tracking systems, Notion, Slack, Zapier, and webhooks. MCP lets Claude or ChatGPT search meetings with workspace permission.

Bluedot 2.1 added auto-recording and broader in-person capture in June 2026. This is now a mature meeting memory system rather than a narrow Chrome recorder.

What Work Coach does

Work Coach is a desktop app for Mac and Windows that records microphone and system audio locally. Nothing joins the call, and recording starts only after you choose it. The meeting can be in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Slack, or any other app that plays audio through the computer.

You get a timestamped transcript, an editable summary, and action items. The main product begins after those basics:

There is no employer dashboard, team workspace, or admin account. The person being coached owns the account and keeps the history when they change jobs.

How recording works

Bluedot's extension and apps keep bots out of the participant list. The desktop app can capture Zoom, Teams, Slack huddles, and audio-only Google Meet, with video behavior varying by platform. Auto-recording is available, and mobile plus Apple Watch handle conversations away from the desk.

Work Coach is narrower and more deliberate. It prompts when a meeting starts but does not auto-record without your decision. It captures any system audio and keeps the recording local. That gives it clean evidence for coaching but no shared video library and no phone or watch capture.

What happens after the meeting

Bluedot turns calls into organizational memory. A recruiting team can update an ATS, a sales team can fill custom CRM fields, and a workspace can search or ask AI across meetings. Shared links, comments, clips, retention settings, and admin controls make the output operational.

Work Coach keeps the output personal. It can tell you that your discovery question closed off the customer, that your pace accelerated during pushback, or that a 1:1 never made space for the other person. The next step is a practice rep, not a CRM field.

Privacy and who owns the output

Bluedot is SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliant. It encrypts data with AES-256 at rest and TLS in transit, offers EU data residency, and states that neither Bluedot nor its AI providers use customer content for model training. Deleted active data is removed immediately and backups clear within 30 days. Its security page describes SSO, SCIM, retention, and workspace controls.

Notes are private until shared, but a company workspace can still apply admin policies. That is a sound design for team knowledge. Work Coach avoids the workspace model because coaching feedback carries a different risk.

Work Coach keeps the product boundary simple. Meeting audio remains on your computer and is deleted automatically after 30 days. No audio file is stored in the cloud. Transcripts and coaching live in your private account, are never visible to your employer, and are never used to train shared models. There is no company administrator who can turn that promise into a workspace setting later.

Pricing

Bluedot Free allows five meetings for the lifetime of the account, each up to one hour. Basic is $14 per user per month annually ($18 monthly) for unlimited audio meetings, with a one-hour cap. Pro is $20 annually ($25 monthly) for unlimited duration, video, templates, and imports. Business is $32 annually ($39 monthly) and adds CRM or ATS integrations, SSO, SCIM, retention, and organization-wide automation. See Bluedot pricing.

Work Coach costs $50 a month after a two-week free trial with no credit card. Plans at $250 and $500 add human review or a live monthly coaching session. That is expensive beside a basic notetaker and inexpensive beside a traditional executive coach, which commonly costs around $5,000 a month. The purchase only makes sense if feedback and practice are the reason you record.

Can you use both together?

Yes. Bluedot can produce the notes and send them into team systems while Work Coach creates the private feedback. Because both can access local audio, test simultaneous capture first. Transcript import is simpler if playback inside Work Coach is not required.
