What Plaud does

Plaud is a hardware and software system. The card-sized Plaud Note and Note Pro attach to a phone and record both in-person audio and phone calls. The wearable NotePin and NotePin S are designed for face-to-face conversations but cannot record phone calls through vibration conduction. One long press starts capture and a short press marks a highlight.

Recordings live on the device until they transfer to the Plaud app. Plaud Intelligence then adds speaker-labeled transcription in 112 languages, thousands of summary templates, mind maps, images and typed notes, Ask Plaud, multi-file search, exports, and automated workflows. Plaud Desktop can also record online meetings, but a Plaud device is required for access.

Hardware is the differentiator and the commitment. You pay for the device, remember to wear or attach it, keep it charged, and decide visibly when a real-world conversation becomes a recording.

What Work Coach does

Work Coach is a desktop app for Mac and Windows that records microphone and system audio locally. Nothing joins the call, and recording starts only after you choose it. The meeting can be in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Slack, or any other app that plays audio through the computer.

You get a timestamped transcript, an editable summary, and action items. The main product begins after those basics:

• Role-aware feedback. Work Coach identifies the meeting type and your role, then applies the right standard. An interview answer is judged differently from a manager's 1:1 or a seller's discovery call.
• Evidence you can replay. Coaching points link to the exact moment in the conversation instead of relying on generic advice.
• Filler-word feedback. It counts your fillers per minute and lets you listen to every instance in sequence.
• Voice delivery analysis. High-stakes clips are reviewed for pace, pitch, pauses, projection, and tone.
• Practice from real meetings. Voice roleplays let you retry difficult conversations and track whether the next attempt improves.

There is no employer dashboard, team workspace, or admin account. The person being coached owns the account and keeps the history when they change jobs.

How recording works

Plaud Note has a physical selector for in-person and phone-call modes. It attaches to the phone for calls and uses a vibration conduction sensor to hear both sides. For Zoom or Teams, Plaud recommends placing the recorder near a computer or phone speaker, although Plaud Desktop now provides a more direct software path. NotePin is easier to wear all day but does not capture phone calls.

Work Coach detects when the computer microphone is in use and asks whether to record. It separates the local microphone from system audio, making online speaker separation cleaner than placing a recorder beside a laptop. It cannot follow you into a hallway conversation, field visit, or doctor's office.

What happens after the meeting

Plaud is much stronger as a general conversation archive. You can create different views of the same recording, add photos or typed notes, build mind maps, ask questions with references back to the audio, and search across files. A consultant, doctor, journalist, or field researcher can make it part of an all-day capture habit.

Work Coach narrows the job to professional growth. It listens for how you framed an answer, handled disagreement, created safety, or closed a conversation. The practice feature turns the most useful finding into another spoken attempt instead of another summary format.

Privacy and who owns the output

Plaud lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, GDPR, HIPAA, and EN 18031 compliance. Audio begins on the device, then moves through the Plaud app for cloud transcription and AI processing. Users should review cloud-sync and retention settings for sensitive work. Plaud reminds buyers to notify participants and obtain consent where required.

The hardware creates a social consideration that software cannot hide. A card on the table or a wearable pin can be seen, and one press can capture people outside a formal meeting. Good disclosure habits matter more than the product's size.

Work Coach keeps the product boundary simple. Meeting audio remains on your computer and is deleted automatically after 30 days. No audio file is stored in the cloud. Transcripts and coaching live in your private account, are never visible to your employer, and are never used to train shared models. There is no company administrator who can turn that promise into a workspace setting later.

Plaud Note and NotePin list at $159. NotePin S is $179 and Note Pro is $189. Every bound device includes Starter with 300 transcription minutes per month. Pro costs $99.99 a year ($8.33 monthly equivalent) or $17.99 month to month for 1,200 minutes. The first-year cost therefore combines hardware and, for regular users, a membership. Work Coach has no hardware purchase but a higher recurring software price.

Work Coach costs $50 a month after a two-week free trial with no credit card. Plans at $250 and $500 add human review or a live monthly coaching session. That is expensive beside a basic notetaker and inexpensive beside a traditional executive coach, which commonly costs around $5,000 a month. The purchase only makes sense if feedback and practice are the reason you record.

Can you use both together?

Yes, but use each where it is strongest. Plaud can capture the conference hallway, customer visit, or phone call. Work Coach can handle scheduled desktop meetings. Plaud transcripts can be imported into Work Coach when you want a coaching pass, assuming policy permits moving the data.
